Eyes That See

A fly flew under my glasses into my eye. My reflex action to flick away the fly caused my glasses to go flying through the air. My grandson Cody and I had just sat down in a booth at the Elephant Bar to enjoy a nice lunch. Since I can’t see much without my glasses, it became urgent for me to find them. We looked in the planter by the booth. We looked in the booth seats and on the table but we didn’t see my glasses. Hostesses, waiters and waitresses gathered around this old lady crawling around on the floor, feeling with her hands.

“Did you lose something?” one of them asked.

“Yes, I lost my glasses,” I said and continued groping for them.

“There they are!” someone exclaimed.

I looked up and saw where the young woman pointed. There they were on the dark, printed carpet by the booth behind us. This was an embarrassing situation, but it reminded me of what my life would be like without the focus God gives me. Life would be a real jungle (not just the ambiance of the Elephant Bar) without His perspective to face daily challenges.

He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. Psalm 91:2

I'm glad you found your glasses. I can't see anything without my corrective lenses.
