You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand. Psalm 16:11
“Sue, you won’t believe this place!” were words I dreamed I heard from my friend Betty the morning after her home-going.
It was the joyful voice I hadn’t heard in months. I could depend on Betty to brighten my day with words spoken or written. I met her at a Christian writer’s group. She and her husband Ray energized our group with their humor. Their stories were funny reflections of every day experiences.
In June, Betty told me she had the flu but she never got well. The doctors never figured out what was wrong. Their best guess (if doctors guess) was that Betty had a mild stroke that left her with a malfunction of her digestive system. She lost 56 pounds in three months and became so weak she couldn’t even talk.
I am thankful that my friend no longer suffers, but rejoices in God’s presence now and forever. She was a dear, sweet friend and I miss her.
